A Femifesto For Ireland
Why this petition matters

The key goal of the Femifesto is to encourage engagement from all citizens who do not have access to information on women’s rights and issues. We aim to provide specific goals for our government to follow that would dramatically improve the lives and safety of women, setting them out in a clear, comprehensive manner. Every policy suggestion that is enacted will be acknowledged on our website. We hope this will reward honest government action and deter from performative declarations in the heat of media discussions.
We are non-partisan and have no preference for which party or person enacts the following changes, but we affirm that all representatives should support the uplifting of women.
As the Femifesto will be released on an annual basis, we will continue shining light on the struggles women face, giving them the time and careful thought they require. We seek to collaborate with the public and other feminist movements on issues that they feel strongly about, as we build upon this year's foundation.
Under each heading, we wish that within a year's time the State addresses:
FEMICIDE
- The Criminal Justice (Hate Crime) Bill 2021
- Stalking as a separate crime to harassment
- Preventative measures to decrease Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Abuse perpetrators
SEX VIOLENCE
- Sexual offence hearing and trial protocols
- Public victim blaming
- Political representatives who admit to, are convicted of, or cover up Domestic Abuse or Sexual Offence Crimes.
DOMESTIC ABUSE
- Refuge beds
- Gender-neutral and men's shelters
- Survivor Fund
- Ask for ANI
- Homelessness as a product of Domestic Abuse
INEQUALITY
- Period Poverty
- Access to gynaecological care, menopause treatments and IVF services
- Implicit bias training
- Neurodiversity in women and individuals assigned female at birth
SEXISM WITHIN IRISH CULTURE
- Bystander intervention training within the sporting community
- Teaching consent and boundaries at primary school level
- Second level relationship and sexuality education
What is being addressed above is only the beginning. There is no limit that should be put on the change we as a country can achieve.
We call upon those we have put in power to implement these changes by March 8th, 2023.
Le grá agus dóchas,
The Femifesto Council
