There is no denying that Moroccan communities in the state of Florida and in the neighboring states have been growing over the years and are in constant need of Moroccan consulate services. Because there is only one Moroccan consulate in the US, Moroccans in Florida have to fly all the way to New York to obtain in-person documents. This is certainly time and money consuming. Couples with children even find it impossible to travel all the way to New York to get their documents done, and thus must wait for a year or two until the mobile consulate passes by.

We all know the great role the mobile consulate has been doing in providing Moroccans with different consulate services all over the states. However, a weekend period once in a couple of years is not an enough-service time for the huge Moroccan community in Florida. The recent visit of the mobile consulate to Florida on January 28/29, 2023, proved that the number of people who came in seeking help went beyond what was expected and that the consulate team, together with the help of numerous local volunteers, had to stay up until midnight or later to cover all visitors’ needs.

Having the chance of getting a Moroccan consulate office in the state of Florida will definitely solve all above-mentioned obstacles as it will lighten the work load the mobile consulate has been facing. A mobile consulate in Florida is going to be a good advantage not only for Moroccans in Florida but also for all those in the neighboring states.

This is a call to all Moroccan Floridians to stand all together and push this petition to the front. We are looking at gathering enough signatures to reach our goal of having a local consulate office. With everyone’s help, we will make it happen Insha Allah!
