The Issue

From the standard of Refereeing to the inept way in which the TMO are conducting themselves, it is becoming frustrating for any Rugby fan to fully understand or appreciate the game. In recent Six Nations matches we have seen players use racist and or abusive comments toward others players and witnessed acts of illegal and dangerous play such as eye gouging, high tackles, elbows to the head or other parts, deliberate striking of other players, illegal use of the boot or legs and much more.

These incidents have either gone undetected or ignored by the match referees, when such incidents have been detected and a card issued the following judicial process leaves a lot to be desired, there is massive inconsistencies in some decisions and the resultant penalty/penalties handed down furthermore there is also some serious flaws within the framework for citing players, the citing commissioner for Six Nations is too slow too act and generally too inconsistent in his findings, some serious acts of foul or illegal play is not dealt with.

Some recent incidents include Mike Brown using hit foot in the ruck with blatant carelessness' and disregard for Conor Murray, resulting in his foot catching Murray in the eye. Joe Marler intentionally striking Rob Evans in the face with his forearm, Marler using racist slurs against Samson Lee and Haskell preforming dangerous high tackles. We the undersigned ask World Rugby to act according within their charter and clarify the situation for all Rugby people worldwide.

Fans of rugby around the world follow rugby for its unique game play, incredible highs and devastating lows, but one thing fans want to see? Professionalism, fair and just decisions from officials.
