Last night, January 7,2022 a New Orleanian was carjacked at gunpoint on Freret Street . Terrifying.
Thankfully after transport to the hospital our fellow citizen is safe. But the trauma will linger for this person and our beloved New Orleans and this incident rapidly moves New Orleans further away from a safe space for all.
Criminals know there aren’t enough officers. Remember we are short 500 police officers. And until this first step is managed crime will continue to grow. Let’s stop this madness now - together.
The rally cry “bring in the reinforcements” is starting to make more sense, right Radical? Maybe. 6 months ago bringing in manpower seems alarmist. But today the beginning of 2022 … Not really. OUR safety is dwindling. You are a target at any given time - day or night.
Our NOPD needs boots on the ground so they can solve crimes and create safety for OUR unique neighborhoods .
You signature has power. Our numbers have power. We are getting attention. New Orleans must be safe for quality of life and economic recovery . That is not radical whatsoever.
Radical ideas will bring about change. A solution can be implemented for citizens to feel safe now and in the future. We thoughtfully come together to ask our leadership to bring in reinforcements for noPD to then utilize our reinforcements to bring safety back to our neighborhoods.
New Orleanians deserve a safe city … please ask your friends, family , co-workers and anyone who loves YOU and New Orleans to demand safety before crime lands on your doorstep - because, frankly , you don’t want to be part of that number.
