Our calls for public safety solutions are agetting noticed! The media is watching. I got a call yesterday as a reporter watched the signature counter tick up in real time! And many if you have emailed me to suggest that media coverage is a great first step to getting our leadership to acknowledge the problem and publicly begin to account for our issues.  Real media exposure will surely prompt the Mayor to address our concerns.

But we need to do more … 500 signatures is a spark … 5000 signatures is a building flame. We just need 10 of your friends and family to sign on today. Could you ask 10,2.0,100 to sign up?

I assure you - that will get the attention we need to move a solution forward. A safer New Orleans for all is the goal.

500 signatures - That’s about the same amount of police officers the New Orleans Police Department is short staffed. NOpD is supposed to have 1600 officers. Right now there are 1100 NoPD available and on any given day 100 are out on  leave, sick days and other legitimate reasons.

Nopd isn’t coming when you call because there aren’t enough officers. We’ve got to request support and change. Our lives depend on it.

Criminals know there are few officers … and you are being targeted. We need action to get the 500 additional public safety personnel in our neighborhoods and on the streets.

You’ve been a big part of a fantastic start but we need more citizens to sign up. Could you share the petition link to 10 of your neighbors?

You can share this fact and and investigative report that’s cited reliable public safety experts from New Orleans.

FACT: NOPD is short approximately 500 officers with more leaving everyday.

The 8th District , French Quarter and Marigny currently has 93 officers. The staffing guideline calls for 150. This means your calls go unanswered or an extraordinary time passes before an officer is on the scene. It’s not because of a lack of concern. It’s a lack of staff. Plain and simple. And it’s time we demand the safety and services our City and citizens need.

Thank you for acknowledging the problem and committing to support a solution.

I’ll be in touch again soon. Let’s get to 1000 signatures by Wednesday night.
