ATTACK ON PROPERTY. ATTACK ON FREEDOM
For more than three years, I have been fighting to get my dogs back.
Five living animals.
Five dogs that have remained since 6 September 2023 at the Animal Shelter in Olsztyn, ul. Turystyczna 2, 10-900 Olsztyn, Poland.
And after all these years, I am still asking one basic question:
ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS ARE THEY REFUSING TO RETURN MY DOGS TO ME?
I do not want any more vague statements.
I do not want explanations created after the fact.
- I do not want another police summons.
- I do not want another proceeding.
- I do not want another trial simply because I publicly ask about my own animals.
THE AUTHORITIES, THE CITY, AND THE MAYOR OF OLSZTYN DO NOT WANT TO SHOW THE LEGAL BASIS. THERE IS NO DOCUMENT JUSTIFYING WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH MY DOGS.
- There is no decision.
- There is no court order.
- There is no document.
- There is no provision of law that allows them to refuse, year after year, to return my dogs to me.
Because while I fight for answers, more and more proceedings are being launched against me in connection with my publications, including cases under Article 212 §2 of the Polish Criminal Code, in order to silence me, so they can hide what they have done to my dogs, because they are so afraid to show the condition they have brought them to — all under the slogan of “HELPING” THEM.
EVERY DAY WE EXPERIENCE PRESSURE FROM THE AUTHORITIES SO THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE:
- Publications in which I show documents.
- Publications in which I point out contradictions.
- Publications in which I ask what really happened to my dogs.
That is why today I am no longer calling only to Olsztyn.
Not only to Poland.
I AM CALLING TO THE WORLD.
- To human rights organizations.
- To animal welfare organizations.
- To lawyers.
- To investigative journalists.
- To European and international media.
- To European and international media.
- To people who believe that the state should not be able to overpower a citizen simply because that citizen stands alone.
INVESTIGATE THIS CASE.
You do not have to take my word for it.
READ THE DOCUMENTS.
Check the dates.
Check the decisions.
Check who took action against these animals and on what legal basis.
And ask one question together with me:
WHERE IS THE DOCUMENT THAT ALLOWS THEM TO REFUSE TO RETURN THESE DOGS TO ME?
If everything was done lawfully — SHOW IT.
If the animals were legally taken away from me — SHOW THE DECISION.
If I ceased to be their owner — SHOW THE DOCUMENT ON THE BASIS OF WHICH THAT HAPPENED.
If a court prohibited their return — SHOW THE COURT ORDER.
If there is a law allowing my dogs to continue to be kept from me — SHOW US THAT LAW.
But do not answer questions about the dogs with more proceedings against the person asking those questions.
Because after more than three years, an even more serious question arises:
WHY IS IT EASIER TO PROSECUTE A MAN ASKING ABOUT HIS OWN DOGS THAN TO SHOW THE DOGS AND PROVIDE THE LEGAL BASIS FOR REFUSING TO RETURN THEM?
This is no longer just a story about five dogs.
This is a story about the limits of state power over an individual citizen.
About property rights.
About the right to ask questions.
About freedom of speech.
About the right to a fair hearing.
About the accountability of public officials.
About transparency in public institutions.
And about what happens to an ordinary person when the entire institutional apparatus stands against him.
Authorities.
Police.
Proceedings.
Courts.
Lawyers.
More cases.
More official letters.
More months and years.
And on the other side?
Me and Hania.
And five dogs that cannot tell the world themselves what is happening to them.
THAT IS WHY WE DEMAND ONE THING:
SHOW THE DOGS.
Show the world what condition they are in.
Show the conditions in which they are being kept.
Allow an independent assessment of their welfare.
Explain why they have remained there for so long.
Explain why they cannot return to their owner.
And show the document that gives anyone the legal right to keep this situation going.
Because animals do not understand legal codes.
They do not understand case numbers.
They do not know what Article 212 of the Polish Criminal Code is.
They do not understand disputes between officials, lawyers and courts.
They only know that the person they knew, whose voice they knew, and with whom they lived — disappeared from their lives.
For a human being, three years is a very long time.
FOR A DOG, IT IS AN ENORMOUS PART OF ITS LIFE.
Every additional month is a month that no one can ever give back to them.
Every additional year is another piece of their lives taken away forever.
And that is exactly why I will not stop asking questions.
This fight has cost me a huge part of my life.
It costs me my health, money, time and strength.
But I have five reasons not to give up.
Five living beings.
That is why I am asking the world:
DO NOT LOOK AWAY.

Send it to journalists.
Send it to human rights organizations.
Send it to animal welfare organizations.
Ask Polish institutions.
Ask the City of Olsztyn.
Ask the shelter.
Ask:
WHERE ARE THE DOGS?
WHAT CONDITION ARE THEY IN?
WHO DECIDED THAT THEY SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE KEPT FROM ME?
AND ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS?
I am not asking the world to issue a verdict.
I AM ASKING THE WORLD TO HOLD THE AUTHORITIES TO ACCOUNT.
I am asking for independent scrutiny.
I am asking for media attention.
I am asking organizations for help.
I am asking someone from outside this local institutional system to finally look at the documents and ask:
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?
If I am wrong — show the documents and prove it.
But if, after more than three years, no clear legal basis can be shown for refusing to return five dogs to their owner, then this case demands explanation in full public view.
DO NOT ALLOW THESE DOGS TO DISAPPEAR BEHIND THE WALLS OF AN INSTITUTION.
DO NOT ALLOW A HUMAN BEING TO BE BURIED UNDER LEGAL PROCEEDINGS SIMPLY BECAUSE HE REFUSES TO STOP ASKING QUESTIONS.
DO NOT ALLOW THE SILENCE OF INSTITUTIONS TO BECOME STRONGER THAN THE TRUTH RECORDED IN DOCUMENTS.
