Hello Ms. Martin,
I hope you are doing well and want to provide a quick follow-up after your call with Rep. Sappey. As I’m sure you know, she is very concerned about this intersection as well.
In August I contacted Pocopson Township who shared with me the results of the PennDOT traffic study that they received in November of 2022. The study monitored accidents for the years 2017-2021 and found there to be 8 reportable accidents in this 5 year period. PennDOT made specific recommendations which included improved pavement marking & signing plans, as well as foliage cut back by property owners along the roadway to improve sight distance. As per the township, all recommendations have been fulfilled.
Our office did suggest to the township that they request another traffic study in early 2024 to include the years 2022 & 2023. The original study included almost two years of the pandemic when schools were closed and traffic was not at the normal flow it is now. The information from a new traffic study could offer additional solutions.
We will follow-up with the township as well. Thank you again for your concern on this issue and please reach out to us any time.
All the best,
Shari Cooper
