The Issue

Let New Mexicans Vote on the $25 Billion Meta Judgment!
To the New Mexico State Legislature:

On October 21, 2026, a New Mexico judge ordered Meta, the company that owns Facebook, to pay our state $25 BILLION for breaking our consumer protection laws.

That's an enormous amount of money for a state where so many families struggle to make ends meet.

Meta plans to appeal the ruling. The state has not received the money, and the final amount could change.

But that doesn't mean we should sit back and do nothing.

What if some of that money could go directly to the people of New Mexico?

Imagine what a one-time payment could mean for our families.

People could pay off debt, fix their homes, buy reliable cars, go back to school, or start small businesses.

That money could also help local stores, create jobs, and boost our economy.

Right now, our state constitution has rules about where money from court fines must go. Those rules may need to change before direct payments are possible.

We are asking our state lawmakers to:

Look into whether the law can be changed to allow a one-time payment to New Mexico residents from this specific Meta judgment.
Hold public meetings and let the people have their say.
If it is legally possible, put a proposed change to our state constitution on the ballot so New Mexicans can vote on it.
We are not asking for a check tomorrow. We are asking for a chance to explore a different way to help our state.

Our schools matter. Our families matter, too.

We deserve to know what our options are, and we deserve a voice in the decisions that affect our future.

Our government works for us. Our voices matter.

If you believe New Mexicans deserve a say in how this historic judgment could benefit our state, please sign this petition and share it.

Let's stop saying, "We'll never see a penny," and start asking, "Why not let the people decide?"
