100 Days to Save Wikie & Keijo: France Must Secure Their Safe Future

The Issue

This is the official petition outlined by activist Seph Lawless: WATCH VIDEO NOW

Wikie and her son Keijo are two orcas whose future remains uncertain following the closure of Marineland Antibes in France. With time running out to secure an appropriate long-term home, their fate has become an urgent animal-welfare issue that extends far beyond the gates of the marine park.

These animals should not be left in prolonged uncertainty while proposals, approvals, and political decisions continue around them. France now has an opportunity—and a responsibility—to ensure that any relocation prioritizes their welfare, keeps this mother and son together whenever medically appropriate, and provides independent oversight throughout the process.

This petition calls on the appropriate French authorities to act transparently and urgently to secure a safe, credible future for Wikie and Keijo. Specifically, we are asking for:

1. A definitive relocation plan for Wikie and Keijo before France’s December 2026 legal deadline.

2. Independent veterinary and animal-welfare oversight of their condition while they remain at Marineland and throughout any transfer.

3. Full transparency from the French government regarding proposed destinations, veterinary assessments, approvals, and the timeline for relocation.

4. A commitment that Wikie and Keijo remain together as mother and son unless independent experts determine separation is medically necessary.

5. A contingency plan so the animals are not left indefinitely at Marineland if the preferred transfer option fails.

6. Public accountability and regular updates until both orcas have been safely relocated.

The world has spent long enough debating where Wikie and Keijo should go. What we cannot accept is allowing bureaucracy, politics, and failed proposals to leave them behind. France needs a safe, credible plan — and it needs one now.
