100 days begging BLACK-COMMUNITY to cease ALL discussion of Sex and Relationship

The Issue

As a young person within the African American community, I am deeply concerned about the constant exposure to discussions revolving around sex, relationships, and parenting. This concern is shared by thousands of other young people who are tired of seeing adults with children and children themselves being subjected to these topics. The trend has become both lucrative and toxic for young consumers. It has also negatively impacted how black people are perceived nationally and internationally.

The overemphasis on these topics in our community's discourse not only detracts from other important issues but also contributes to a skewed perception of our community. A study by Color Of Change (2017) found that media portrayals often depict black families as dysfunctional and broken, which can perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

This petition calls for a 100-day period where we refrain from discussing sex or relationships on social media posts, celebrity gossip platforms, or public interviews within our community. This is not an attempt to suppress conversation but rather an effort to shift focus towards more diverse subjects that reflect the richness of our experiences as African Americans.

We hope this initiative will encourage more balanced discussions that accurately represent us while fostering healthier perceptions among younger generations in particular. Please join us in this pledge not just as passive observers but active participants committed to reshaping our narrative. Sign this petition today!
