For more than a decade, the people of Morne Aux-Delices, Grand Fond,  Delices, Morne Jean, and River Cyrique, Rosalie, Boetica, and Laplane have lived with fear every time the rain falls. Today’s rock slide once again trapped entire communities—parents could not get to work, children missed school, and families were cut off from medical care and basic services.

Yes, we are deeply grateful for the bridge that was installed last year. It brought hope. But we are still not safe. The shorter, safer route—the Petite Savanne Road—has been left unrepaired for over 10 years, and every day it remains closed, our people are forced to risk their lives using the long, unstable Morne Aux-Delices route.

These landslides are becoming more frequent. The danger is growing. And one day, if nothing is done, we will face a tragedy that could have been prevented.

This is not a minor inconvenience. This is a health and safety emergency.
Our lives, our children, and our communities deserve better.

We urgently need the government to:

Repair and reopen the Petite Savanne access road immediately

Prioritize road safety within the national resiliency program

Protect the communities that depend on these routes every single day. This road is also vital for the Delices Reunion and the Morne Jean/River Cyrique Reunion only a few months away—events that will bring much-needed economic vitality to our communities. Without safe access, our development continues to be strangled.

We are pleading for action.
We are pleading for safety.
We are pleading to be seen.
