✍️ Petition to KEEP Nugget Ice Vending in Perry, GA! ✍️
The Issue
To: The City of Perry, GA Officials
We, the undersigned residents, business owners, and supporters of Perry, GA, respectfully request that the City allow our Nugget Ice vending machine to STAY where it is, located at Crazy J's Liquor Store 317 General Courtney Hodges Blvd, Perry, GA. ❄️🧊 The city has demanded we move our machine, claiming it is prohibited. But we believe the city is misinterpreting its own rules—and we’re here to set the record straight.
Why This Demand to Move the Machine is Unfair 🚫
✅ It’s Already There & Serving the Community – The vending machine replaced a traditional ice merchandiser at a local liquor store. It’s not some rogue ice bandit—it’s just better ice! 🏪❄️
✅ It’s NOT the Kind of Machine the City Prohibits – The city’s own definition restricts vending machines that accept only cash or electronic payment. Our machine uses a cashless token activation system in addition to electronic payment. 🪙💳 That’s a BIG difference!
✅ It’s an Accessory to an Existing Business – This is not some random, stand-alone ice box in the middle of nowhere. It is subordinate to the primary business, meaning it doesn’t fall under the city’s freestanding vending restrictions at all! 🤷♂️
✅ The City is Grasping at Straws 🥤 – First, they said it was too big (it’s not, it’s actually smaller than what they prohibit). Then, they claimed we couldn’t appeal (we can, and we are). Now, they’re just throwing out reasons to try and make us move. 🤦♂️
We’re Standing Up for What’s Right 💪
When we first questioned the community planner and city manager, they told us we couldn’t appeal—that their word was final. ❌ That is NOT how fair government works. We are standing our ground for everyday, hardworking people who are tired of being pushed around. If necessary, we will take this to the highest level of court, but we need YOUR support!
What We’re Asking the City to Do:
1️⃣ Let the machine stay where it is! It replaced an old ice merchandiser—it’s not new, just better.
2️⃣ Acknowledge that it does NOT fit their vending restriction definition. Words matter. 📖✍️
3️⃣ Recognize this machine as an accessory use. Because that’s exactly what it is! 🏪
