The Issue

🕊️  Justice for Habtom, Yonas, and Zeriesenai — Stop the Unlawful Detention of Eritrean Justice Seekers in Ethiopia In our ongoing fight for a Free Eritrea from totalitarian rule, justice remains at the heart of our struggle. The recent arrest and continued detention of Habtom Gebrethadkan, Yonas Mebrahtom, and Zeriesenai Meles in Ethiopia exposes yet another injustice in the region’s long battle for human rights and due process. These individuals were first taken to Tulu Dimtu and are now being held at Konie 16th Police Station in Addis Ababa — without any clear explanation or formal charges. Their prolonged detention violates Ethiopia’s own constitutional guarantees and international human-rights standards. Habtom, Yonas, and Zeriesenai are more than names; they are symbols of the Blue Revolution and of the Eritrean justice-seeking movement worldwide. Their courage mirrors the aspirations of every Eritrean who dreams of transparency, accountability, and human dignity. Their continued detention without due process defies the basic principles of law and justice. Throughout history, countless advocates and citizens have stood up against arbitrary detentions that silence truth and justice. The release of these three individuals would not only restore their freedom — it would echo across borders, reaffirming the universal commitment to fairness, human rights, and the rule of law. The TRAP Team, in collaboration with Blue Revolution Global, the Eritrean Justice Seekers community, the Transitional Government in Exile, Bayto Yiakl USA, and Team Freedom International, stand united in demanding their immediate release. We are calling upon: Demelash Gebremichael, Commissioner-General of the Ethiopian Federal Police
Gedion Timothewos, Attorney General of Ethiopia
Redwan Hussien, Director-General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS)
Berhanu Adelo, Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission
Ervin J. Massinga, U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia
to act urgently and uphold the rule of law. We also urge the United Nations Human Rights Council, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch to demand immediate legal access and transparency regarding their detention. It is time to act. We implore governments, international organizations, and global allies to exert diplomatic pressure on Ethiopian authorities to either charge or release these individuals immediately. Their freedom is not just a legal necessity — it is a moral imperative. Every signature matters. Join us and sign this petition to shine an international spotlight on this injustice, demand accountability, and ensure that justice prevails for Habtom, Yonas, and Zeriesenai. ✍️ Sign and share widely. Let your voice stand for justice, freedom, and human dignity.
