Alliance against physical restraint in psychiatric care (精神科医療の身体拘束を考える会)
Dec 26, 2017
Today is 27 December, which should have been Kelly Savage’s 28th birthday. Thank you for your support, which has surged today. There are two items to report. I expect to post a Japanese version tomorrow. 1) On 15 December, South Japan Times published seven articles about Kelly’s case, including the background of his work in Shibushi City and the problems of using restraints in psychiatric hospitals. This was the most comprehensive coverage yet in a single newspaper in a single day. Thanks to Toyoshima-san for writing and providing the articles. They are in Japanese. I provide the first one here. Please comment on this page if you want the rest. 2) We have updated the article in the English version of Wikipedia on Physical Restraints to include a discussion of the current state of physical restraint use in Japanese psychiatric hospitals (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_restraint).
