Dear friends,

The organizers of the Tokyo Olympics are allowing fans to send video and text messages to show support for their favorite teams. These messages will be displayed on the big screens inside the venues. Click HERE to get started.

Let’s take advantage of this opportunity to show support for Team Taiwan and to let the world know that Taiwan is NOT Chinese Taipei. If hundreds or thousands of us do this, hopefully some of the messages will be selected.

When sending a message to Team Taiwan, you need to include the hashtags: #DearAthletes #TPE

Note that you need to scroll through the “Share the Passion” terms of participation and click on the privacy policy before you can advance to grant consent for your message to be used on the big screens.

Another interesting development is that the IOC has decided to allow Olympic athletes to protest before and after competition. Many soccer teams have already started taking a knee before competition to protest against racism. HERE is the IOC’s new protest guidelines. I hope Taiwanese athletes will take advantage of this opportunity to protest against discrimination against their country. I will post an update on the petition if a Taiwanese athlete does this.
