 I am an Egyptian citizen, born and raised in this country, and while the Internet became mandatory, Egypt became clueless. Here in Egypt, Telecom Egypt (WE) controls the Internet, landlines among other things.

The Internet (pre 2009) was an unlimited service with a monthly subscription, normal like every single Internet in other countries, but then, the NTRA decided that needed to change, In partnership with WE, they changed the plans to LIMITED data plans, meaning you were charged by the gigabyte. Present day, 210 EGP would get you 140 GB only, with speeds of 2mb/s. What pushed me to do this post? Well, in the central communications tower, a fire happened, something broke in the limiter system, allowing some people to get UNLIMITED DATA with speeds of more the 1TB/S. Yes, One TERABYTE per second. WE and the NTRA's biggest excuse was that the infrastructure wouldn't handle it, although, it handed it just fine.
