Ζητείται η συλλογή υπογραφών για την διάσωση των εμβληματικών κτιρίων του ιστορικού κέντρου της Κέρκυρας (ελληνικού νησιού του Ιονίου πελάγους), το οποίο αποτελεί μνημείο UNESCO από το 2007. Πολλά από τα κτίρια αυτά μετατρέπονται σταδιακά σε ερείπια λόγω ολιγωρίας των αρμόδιων αρχών. Στόχος είναι η ανάδειξη της έκτασης του προβλήματος και η ενίσχυση της δημόσιας πίεσης.

Οι υπογραφές αυτές θα σταλούν μαζί με φωτογραφικό υλικό, σε διεθνείς και ευρωπαϊκούς οργανισμούς, προστασίας παγκόσμιας πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς, όπως η UNESCO, η EUROPA NOSTRA και το ICOMOS, με σκοπό την διεθνοποίηση του θέματος και με κοινοποίηση στις αρμόδιες ελληνικές αρχές.

Η όσο το δυνατόν μεγαλύτερη συγκέντρωση υπογραφών θα συντελέσει στην ευόδωση του εγχειρήματος.

We are calling for signatures to help save the emblematic buildings of the historic centre of Corfu, a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2007. Many of these historic buildings are gradually falling into ruin due to the failure of the competent authorities to take adequate action. The aim is to highlight the scale of the problem and strengthen public pressure for their protection and preservation.

The signatures, together with photographic evidence, will be submitted to international and European organisations dedicated to the protection of the world’s cultural heritage, including UNESCO, Europa Nostra and ICOMOS, with the aim of bringing the issue to international attention. The relevant Greek authorities will also be formally notified.

The greater the number of signatures we collect, the stronger the impact of this initiative will be.
