The Issue

The UK government has approved outdoor geoengineering experiments aimed at dimming the sun. These trials risk serious harm to our health, environment, and democracy.

As someone who has dedicated my life to reconnecting people with nature, I am deeply concerned that artificial geoengineering experiments threaten not only the environment but also our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Sunlight is essential to all life on Earth ~ it nurtures our ecosystems, supports our mental health, and sustains our bodies through Vitamin D production. Decisions to interfere with this fundamental life force should never be made without full democratic consent.

We call for an immediate pause to all outdoor solar radiation management (SRM) experiments in the UK until:

  1. A full public inquiry is held.
  2. Independent health and environmental impact assessments are completed.
  3. A nationwide public consultation and referendum are conducted.
  4. The activities of ARIA are disclosed and debated.

Our concerns include:

Mental Health: Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) already affects over 2 million people in the UK, according to NHS estimates. Reducing natural sunlight further could worsen depression and anxiety rates significantly.

Physical Health: Around 1 in 6 adults and 20% of children in the UK are Vitamin D deficient, with rates highest during months of reduced sunlight. Artificially blocking sunlight risks serious consequences for our immune systems, bone health, and disease resilience.

Environmental Disruption: Dimming sunlight could destabilise natural weather patterns, agriculture, and ecosystems — with effects that could be irreversible.

Democratic Rights: There has been no public consultation or referendum on these experiments, despite their potential to affect every UK citizen.

Spiritual Interference: Across cultures and faiths, the sun is honoured as a sacred source of light, life, and spiritual awareness. Blocking or altering sunlight may interfere with natural rhythms of consciousness, disconnecting us from our spiritual traditions, ancestral wisdom, and deeper connection to nature.

Prominent international figures, including President Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have also expressed grave concerns about solar dimming and its unforeseen consequences — reinforcing that this is not a fringe issue, but a matter of global public interest.

Sunlight is not a luxury ~ it is a fundamental human right.

We demand our right to sunlight, our right to health, and our right to democratic participation in decisions that affect our skies, our ecosystems, our faith and our future.

Sign now to stop the sky experiment and protect our right to sunlight.
