Bring a change to this mural to depict all heroes of our county
The Issue
With the movement sweeping our country right now, we felt compelled to stand up for an injustice right here in our own hometown of Quincy Florida. This mural of these 3 doctors does not depict the true heroes of our county. The true heroes are the doctors, veterans, law enforcement, first responders and utility workers as well as Our truck drivers. Some of these men and women put their lives on the line, some on a daily basis. Yes, we are in complete agreeance that these doctors are heroes and belong up there BUT they do not deserve to be up there alone. It is clearly not a diverse mural and takes away from all ethnicities of people by only showing one race. We did not take this matter lightly and only went to petition type forum when Brenda Holt who is a County Commissioner was approached about adding diversity to the mural and her response was "well that monument had been up for 135 years so I feel its only fair for the mural to stay for that same time period". This is the moment we knew that no amount of reasoning or fairness would work and we had to reach out to the public to help us make a change. Please help us show the heroes of our county that we appreciate and value them by having the mural redone.
