Facebook accounts are getting hacked all the time , I didn’t realise the extent of the problem until it happened to me .

Facebook holds many precious memories for people and losing an account through no fault of your own is very distressing. 

Facebook robots direct you to their help centre , here there are a variety of options but again it seems that there are no humans monitoring the request .

A lot of the options in the help centre require you to log in to your account - not much good if you can’t !

 Facebook asks you to upload ID - I personally have sent , a drivers licence , a passport , 3 utility bills , a bank statement and a deed pole certificate/ to get the response that the ID is not acceptable, please log in to your account .Many others have the same issue . 

Once a hacker had hacked the account he will change phone numbers , emails and will most likely set up a 2FA to an authentication app . 

I had 2FA on my account and all the other recommendations from Facebook, so I’m assuming brute force was used to attack this . 

The hacker will then most likely message your friends and trick them into giving out their number then potentially hack there accounts or ask for money posing as you . I sent many reports to Facebook identifying some of the accounts the hacker had hacked whilst pretending to be me , none of which were responded too . 

People are desperate to regain access when Facebook ignores their request so they look at ways to access through the internet- another risk as they pay hackers who then do not follow up , or they cause further issues as they have more information on that person so can potentially hack other sites . 

I was surprised to see how many people are affected by this .A lot of people I have spoken too have been badly affected by the loss of their accounts , losing many memories and contacts , leading to depression and anxiety . 

Peoples Mental Health is affected , they are worried that someone had access to their accounts which contain private information. 

The other detriment is that these accounts are a lifeline for some people , people with Mental Health problems , people who have left domestic violence situations .and much more . These accounts may be their only social interaction . Again this leads to Social isolation which in turn has detriment in Mental Health and Well Being .

Facebook is is worth billions of pounds , we are the customer, there should be a customer service . 

Please think what you would lose if you could never gain access to your account , it’s actually quite heartbreaking- all those memories and contacts gone in a blink of an eye and no one to help you retrieve it .
