Amazon U.S. - Don't fall for the animal rights propaganda about dog training tools.
The Issue
The picture above shows what an improperly used embedded 'humane' harness can do to a dog. Based on this one picture should Amazon be pressured to not sell harnesses as they have been pressured for pinch collars in the U.K.? Recently ONE picture of a dog that had an embedded prong collar removed, the same picture, of the same dog has been used over and over in making the urban legend rounds in an effort to prove prong collars are cruel and damaging. Using that picture, appeals to emotion and propaganda the extremists have pressured Amazon U.K. to no longer sell prong/pinch collars, now it may happen in the U.S.
Using the logic of the AR people the picture above should justify harnesses being banned from stores as well? One picture, circulated and attached to an agenda should not control whether Amazon U.S. should sell prongs or not anymore then the one picture above should control whether harnesses are sold.
They also use the argument of 'would you use a prong on your child?'. A ridiculous assertion given I don't feed children raw meat nor crate them to potty train them either.
Many dogs have embedded collars removed every year. The collars used range from simple flat nylon collars to heavy chains to plain old rope. Should we have retailers not sell these items because people leave them on to become embedded? Far more damage is done to dogs with flat collars every day but we don't hear for a ban when confronted with raw open neck wounds inflicted by thoughtless owners. People complain putting a dog in a crate is cruel, should Amazon stop selling crates as well? Who gets to pick and choose what should be sold and not sold?
We already have anti-cruelty laws and don't need misinformed people forcing their agenda on us. Many dogs die in shelters every year due to a lack of training. Some of these dogs could have been saved with the proper and humane use of training tools such as pinch collars. Make no mistake, many of these people would rather put a dog to death then try to use a different tool or method and save it's life and **that** is what is truly cruel.
Ask yourself, if one picture can support removing a training tool from the hands of trainers, including military and police, and pet owners who use them properly then shouldn't this picture of what a 'humane' harness can do justify having it removed from stores as well?
