Stop False Claims of Genocide in Nigeria- Promote Peace and Truth
The Issue
The President of the United States' False Claims of Genocide in Nigeria – Promote Peace and Truth
I, Yunus Oyetunde, professionally known as Coy Emerald, a citizen of Nigeria, am deeply concerned about recent statements made by the President of the United States claiming there is a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.
These statements are factually inaccurate. Violence in Nigeria affects citizens of all faiths—Christians, Muslims, and traditionalists alike. Both mosques and churches, along with other community institutions, have suffered attacks.
This false claim of genocide has already caused personal and societal harm. Personally, I have lost friends and social connections especially on social media like Facebook and the public misunderstanding has caused me significant emotional distress. His statements also damage the international perception of Nigerians, which may later affect employment opportunities for professionals like me, particularly in fields such as Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking, where reputational damage can have long-term effects
And by presenting Nigeria as a nation targeting a particular religious group, these statements have fostered division and unrest, both locally and internationally.
I call for:
- A formal review and clarification of this false statements regarding My country, Nigeria
- Measures to prevent the spread of misleading information
I urge global leaders to stand for truth, justice, and unity, and to prevent the spread of harmful falsehoods, especially about my country, Nigeria, and its people.
Sign this petition to demand accountability and promote a peaceful, truthful narrative about Nigeria
Sincerely,
Yunus Oyetunde (Coy Emerald)
Citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
