Wayne Fontana, born Glyn Geoffrey Ellis (1945–2020), was an influential English rock and pop singer. He rose to fame as the frontman of the beat group The Mindbenders, achieving success with hit singles like "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um" in 1964 and "The Game of Love" in 1965. Fontana's decision to leave The Mindbenders marked the beginning of his solo career, during which he enjoyed further hits, including "Pamela Pamela" in 1966. Despite encountering legal issues in the 2000s, Fontana remained active in the music scene, performing on the 60s nostalgia circuit until his passing. His contributions to the British pop and rock genres have left a lasting legacy.
