Sean Thomas Casten, born in 1971, is an American businessman and politician who serves as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 6th congressional district. The district encompasses southwestern Chicago and its inner southwestern suburbs, including Downers Grove, Wheaton, and Orland Park. A member of the Democratic Party, Casten has been serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Middlebury College and a Master’s in Engineering Management from Dartmouth College. Casten’s professional background includes roles as President and CEO of Turbosteam Corporation, Manager at Arthur D. Little, and Co-Founder of Recycled Energy Development LLC. His diverse career also includes scientific work at Tufts School of Medicine.
