Robin Lynne Kelly, born in 1956, is an American politician and a member of the Democratic Party. She has been serving as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 2nd congressional district since 2013. Kelly's political career began in the Illinois House of Representatives, where she served from 2003 to 2007. Subsequently, she became the chief of staff for Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, a role she held until 2010. Kelly was the Democratic nominee for Illinois state treasurer in 2010 but did not win the election. She also served as the chief administrative officer for Cook County. Kelly holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Psychology and Counseling from Bradley University and a Doctorate in Political Science from Northern Illinois University.
