Matthew William Mahan is an American politician and tech entrepreneur who currently serves as the mayor of San Jose, a position he assumed in 2023. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Mahan's career is marked by a blend of public service and innovation in technology. Prior to becoming mayor, he was the District 10 Councilmember, representing the Almaden Valley, Blossom Valley, and Vista Park neighborhoods. Mahan co-founded and served as CEO of Brigade Media, a company that focuses on civic engagement. His education includes a high school diploma from Bellarmine College Preparatory and a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies from Harvard University. Mahan has also held positions such as VP of Partnerships at Causes and Research Fellow at SPUR.
