Kate Gallego is the Mayor of Phoenix, Arizona, the fifth-largest city in the United States. Gallego is the second elected female Mayor in Phoenix history and one of the youngest big city Mayors in the United States. A graduate of Harvard University, she earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Before being elected to Phoenix City Council, Gallego worked on Economic Development for the local utility company, Salt River Project. Since taking office, Gallego has focused on diversifying the economy, strengthening infrastructure investment, and making Phoenix a leader in sustainability. She also led the campaign to pass Phoenix’s citywide transportation plan through .
