Josh Hawley, born in 1979, is an American lawyer and politician serving as the senior United States Senator from Missouri since 2019. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, he notably defeated two-term incumbent Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill in the 2018 election and was reelected in 2024. Before his tenure in the Senate, Hawley served as the 42nd Attorney General of Missouri from 2017 to 2019. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Stanford University and a JD from Yale University. His professional background includes roles as Of Counsel at Becket, Attorney at Hogan Lovells US LLP, Associate Professor at the University of Missouri School of Law, and Founder and President of the Missouri Liberty Project.
