Jared William Huffman is an American lawyer and politician who has represented California's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013. A prominent member of the Democratic Party, Huffman previously served in the California State Assembly, representing the 6th district from 2006 to 2012. During his tenure in the Assembly, he chaired the Assembly Water, Parks & Wildlife Committee and the Assembly Environmental Caucus. Huffman was elected to Congress in 2012, winning decisively against his Republican opponent. His district runs from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border. Huffman holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a JD degree from Boston College. Before his political career, he was a public interest attorney and a senior attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Additionally, he served as Director at Marin Municipal Water District.
