International Olympic Committee

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is an international non-governmental, non-profit organization, primarily responsible for organizing the modern Summer and Winter Olympic Games. The organization was established on June 23, 1894, and is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IOC aims to promote Olympism worldwide and to bring all sports disciplines under a unified structure. It acts as a coordination body for all national Olympic committees across the globe and plays a pivotal role in the selection of the Olympic host cities. Furthermore, the committee forms and enforces the rules and guidelines pertaining to the conduct of the games and maintains the Olympic Charter.
