The Ibo, also known as Igbo, constitute one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa, primarily residing in southeastern Nigeria. Renowned for their art, including carving, weaving, and pottery, they have also made significant contributions to literature, notably through the works of Chinua Achebe. A traditionally agricultural society, they are known for producing cassava, yam, and kola nuts, among other crops. A uniquely decentralized culture, the Ibo society doesn't have a central governing authority, instead, power is shared among numerous local chiefs and elders. Their language, Igbo, forms part of the Niger-Congo language family.
