Greater Manchester Police, often abbreviated as GMP, is a regional law enforcement agency established in 1974, serving Greater Manchester in North West England. With over 6,300 police officers and 600 volunteer special constables, it is the third largest police force in the UK. The force is responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing and investigating crimes, and protecting the nearly three million residents across the region. GMP covers a wide range of urban centers, including Manchester City Centre, suburban communities, and rural areas. Their jurisdiction includes Manchester, Salford, Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, and Trafford among several others.
