AIE Associazione Italiana Editori is the prominent trade association for Italian publishers founded in 1869. It primarily represents the interests of its member publishers, who comprise about 90% of the industry, throughout Italy and international publishing relations. The association provides a vast array of services including research, training and consultation, monitors legal and economic aspects of publishing, and promotes reading and literacy. Additionally, AIE is actively engaged in defending copyright protection and freedom of speech, and it organizes several events and fairs, including the International Book Forum.
