The gay/trans panic defense is where if someone assualts ot kills a lgbtq person they can use the gay/trans panic defense.  They would say something like this in court       "I was so offended and scared by the sexuality"or "I learned they were transgender after sexual intercourse and i felt so violated and scared".  Only around 10 US states have banned this homophobic and transphobic law, Oregon not be part of them.  People could get away with murder because of this and they do.  This law cause me and fellow lgbtq members to be terrified that we could be killed or assaulted and the defendant would easily get away with it.  The gay/trans panic defense is disgusting!!!! I care about banning this because it affects me since im am a lesbian.  Banning this would affect me and the rest of the LGBTQ+ community in Oregon.  If you actually care about the LGBTQ community you will know the importance of getting this banned in all 50 states but we can only do that if we  ban it in all the blue states first.It only takes a few minutes to sign!!
