Stop Using Hotels Like the Dragonfly to House Asylum Seekers – Prioritise British Needs

The Issue

We, the undersigned, call on the UK Government and local authorities to immediately stop using hotels such as the Dragonfly Hotel (and others like it) to accommodate asylum seekers.

This policy places an unfair burden on local communities and taxpayers. It is unacceptable that venues intended for tourism, business, and public use are being repurposed to house individuals who have arrived in the UK illegally or under unclear circumstances — especially while British citizens face homelessness, NHS waiting lists, and housing shortages.

We specifically demand that the Government:

End the use of Dragonfly Hotel and similar facilities for housing asylum seekers
Redirect taxpayer funds toward supporting veterans, rough sleepers, and low-income families
Prioritise processing and removal of failed asylum seekers instead of prolonged, publicly funded stays
Increase transparency and local consultation before placing asylum seekers in hotels
British hospitality infrastructure should not be repurposed at the expense of local economies, public services, and national fairness. We ask for urgent action.
