Demand Investigation of Mayor Betsy Stix and Simply Ojai et al

This is a petition to remedy the abuse of power by the current mayor, Betsy Stix by urging the Ventura County District Attorney, the County Grand Jury and the State Attorney General to investigate the Mayor's ties to a shadowy political group masquerading as a 501(c)(3) "charity" called Mindful Citizen, DBA "Simply Ojai." The two work hand-in-glove.
Mounting evidence from public disclosures reveal that the Mayor has violated the law in a covert attempt to block an ordinance passed by the previous Council by a vote of 4-1. Not content with allowing the rule of law, the Mayor forwarded confidential attorney-client privileged documents to the opposing side in litigation, and she colluded with Simply Ojai to have the defendant City hire a lawyer of the plaintiff's choosing. As a former three-term mayor described it in asking Mayor Stix to resign, "It's like a farmer asking the fox who should guard the henhouse."
The Mayor has also committed and misdirected taxpayer funds behind closed doors.
If the Mayor and her friends have their way, a local developer, the Becker Group, will likely be forced to sue the City. And experts agree Becker has a very high chance of winning a multimillion dollar judgment -- to be paid by the taxpayers, which could easily bankrupt our beloved City of Ojai.
