Hello, my name is Sophie, I am 13 years old and I am starting this petition because I believe that too many trees are being cut down in Edinburgh. I am aware of the law that states you must have permission from the council to cut down some trees, but even with that law there are still large amounts of trees being cut down in residential and communal areas. This means that that quantity of wildlife, which could otherwise be quite high, is reducing. The animals are losing their homes and the woodland areas are no longer as lush, thick and beautiful as they used to be. Just think of what could happen if too many trees are cut down, it could one day end up looking nearly as empty as the picture above. I am hoping that this petition (once it gets enough signatures) can persuade Edinburgh Council to not let as many trees be cut down, especially in residential areas, and to let the woodlands grow to be full again.
