We, the people who signed this petition, ask you to respect the authenticity of Belarusians! We believe that Belarus has the right to be independent and not have an association, in translation of the name of the country, with the currently non-existent countries "White Russian" or "Belorussians"

Respect for Belarusians is also expressed in the correct translation of the name of the country from the Belarusian language into foreign ones.

Belarus is the official legal name of the state, this name is recorded in the classifier of the countries of the world.
BUT, in most countries of the European Union, an irrelevant transliteration remained fixed, which reflects belonging to a country that was part of the USSR until 1991 and is currently INDEPENDENT - the Republic of Belarus. Examples of countries and existing incorrect names of Belarus, formed from the translation of the words "WHITE RUSSIAN" (not all countries are given, so as not to repeat identical names of translations):
Iceland - Hvita-Russland
Norway - Kviterussland
Finland - Valko-Venaja
Ireland - Bhealaruis
Estonia - Valgevene
Latvia - Baltkrievija
Lithuania - Baltarusija
Germany - Weissrussland
Switzerland - Bielorussia
Belgium - Wit-Rusland
Denmark - Hviderusland

We call for the formation of the correct spelling of the name - "Republic of Belarus" or "Belarus", and citizens - Belarusians.
There are two official languages in Belarus (Belarusian and Russian), and in both languages the country is called the same - Belarus.
Correct spelling - approved in the international classifier of country names and published for reference on the UN website https://unstats.un.org/unsd/methodology/m49

The official name "Belarus" is fixed in:
- in the first paragraph of the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated 09.19.1991 No. 1085-XII; (indicating the rules of transliteration, to be write from Belarusian)
- in the constitution of the Republic of Belarus;
- in the decree of the former President of the Republic of Belarus, dated 07.04.2000 N 172 "On the use of the name of the Republic of Belarus by legal entities"
- in the UN (Terminology Bulletin No.347 / Rev.1)
The use of incorrect terms derived from a combination of two words "WHITE" + "RUSSIA" - requires transliteration revision.

Causes:
- contradicts the rules of transliteration, based on the only correct transliteration, from the Belarusian language.
- creates an association of belonging and dependence on the great-power Russia.

“Belorussia” is the name of one of the Soviet socialist republics, which ceased to exist in 1991. The Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic “BSSR” has notified the UN of the renaming of the BSSR to the Republic of Belarus. At the same time, a request was formulated “to transliterate this name into other languages -  in accordance with the Belarusian sound”.

Belarusians say - “We are Belarusians! And our country is called - Belarus!
