Prioritise Sibling Admission in All Schools

Prioritise Sibling Admission in All Schools
The Issue
Like many others, I find myself in a challenging and heartbreaking situation. My daughter was declined a place at our chosen primary school; the very same school her brother attends and where she herself has spent the last two years at the onsite nursery. This decision has serious implications for our family, both financially and in terms of our work commitments.
Many families face similar issues, and research shows that children perform better academically and socially when they are in the same school as their siblings. A report Done by the Education Research Centre, University College Dublin highlighted that students having siblings in the same school have a direct positive impact on their academic performance and social skills.
Despite this, many schools do not give sibling priority in their admissions policy, resulting in unfortunate situations like ours. We firmly believe that siblings should be given priority admission in all schools, ensuring continuity in a child's learning environment and lessening logistical burdens on families.
Granting sibling priority is not just a nod towards family convenience—it's about children's well-being, family stability, and giving children the best possible chance to succeed in their education.
Let's come together to endorse this important change. Sign the petition to prioritise sibling admission in all schools. Together, we have the power to make a difference.
