The Issue

Athena, an innocent dog, has been living in the Spokane Humane Society for over two long years, trapped in a cycle of stress and trauma. For 900 days, she has endured a life constrained to a cage, permitting her only 15-30 minutes a day to breathe in fresh air. Imagine waking up each day surrounded by the unsettling smells of fear, feces, and death. Despite these harrowing conditions and being passed around by different handlers with varied approaches, Athena has shown extraordinary resilience and has never harmed anyone. Her spirit remains hopeful, endlessly proving her willingness to live harmoniously.

Athena deserves to experience the freedom and happiness every creature should know. A rescue organization dedicated to giving Athena the life she deserves is ready to take her in. They've arranged a foster home and a trainer equipped to manage Athena's needs. However, despite these arrangements, the Spokane Humane Society continues to deny her release, dragging out a dire situation unnecessarily when competent help stands ready.

Can we allow an innocent being to perish due to behavioral issues that are manageable with proper care? No animal deserves to face death when there are valid alternatives. A life, with love and care waiting, should not end caged.

We call upon the Spokane Humane Society and SCRAPs to reconsider their stance and allow Athena to move to a nurturing environment where her behavioral issues can be addressed. This act of compassion would grant Athena a second chance at life she'd never thought possible. A life where trauma is a thing of the past and love lights every corner.

Spokane residents and animal lovers, your voices matter. Your signature can help rescue Athena, ensuring that her sufficient care plan does not go to waste. Stand with us in asking the Spokane Humane Society and SCRAPs to let compassion prevail. Sign and advocate for Athena's release to her potential vibrant life.
