Halt the Mass Removal of Neighborhood Trees in Noblesville, IN

The Issue

I am a resident of Noblesville, IN, and my neighborhood, Oakmont, is under threat. The city has plans to cut down 42% of our neighborhood trees - a staggering 78% on my street alone. This isn't just about losing the trees we love; it's about the impact this will have on our homes and our lives.

Our home values are at risk. Trees contribute significantly to property value; they provide shade, beauty, and character that make neighborhoods desirable places to live. The removal of such a large number of trees could potentially decrease property values across the board.

Our heating costs will rise as well. Trees act as natural insulators for homes by providing shade in summer and blocking cold winds in winter. Without them, we'll be more reliant on artificial heating and cooling methods which will increase our energy bills.

The local wildlife that calls these trees home will be displaced or worse - left without habitats or food sources.

The walkability of our neighborhood is also at stake due to increased heat exposure from lack of shade provided by these mature trees.

We understand the need for sidewalk repair and removal of sick trees but implore the city to consider other alternatives that do not involve decimating such a significant portion of our tree population all at once.

If they remove these trees from the Oakmont neighborhood, they will most likely remove trees from other neighborhoods in our city to repair sidewalks as well, affecting the overall beauty of our city. Other Noblesville neighborhoods may be at risk.

We urge you to join us in petitioning against this drastic measure - let's protect Noblesville's natural beauty together! Please sign this petition today!
