The iconic Napa Valley Wine Train is in danger of losing a crucial part of its soul — its legendary vintage locomotives, including the original ALCO FPA-4s that have defined the heart, sound, and spirit of the train for generations. These engines are not just machines — they are living pieces of California’s railroading and tourism history.

Today, the old locomotives face forced retirement and even destruction under strict new California emissions regulations. One has already had its engine scrapped, and others could soon follow — unless we act now.

We are building a movement to:

Save, restore, and preserve the original Napa Valley Wine Train locomotives (#70, #71, #72, and #73)
Raise funds to move, restore, or legally preserve these engines if the Wine Train decides to dispose of them
Push for these locomotives to be placed in a museum, or kept operational with clean engine conversions
Protect a critical piece of California and American rail history
If we lose these locomotives, we lose a piece of our soul.

We cannot stand by and let them be forgotten, scrapped, or destroyed. These engines deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated for generations to come.
