Scotland’s Ice rinks have been closed for 6 months, with athletes of all ages unable to train.
The careers, health and mental well being of skaters has been ignored. In figure skating this is particularly distressing as it is dominated by young females who are traditionally difficult to engage in sport. Many will not return if we don’t open soon. 
Scottish competitive athletes will now fall further behind English skaters and the rest of the World. We will have no pipeline of talent or sustainable clubs. The ice rinks may not survive and may never reopen, leaving Scotland - the home of curling - with few or no ice rinks. The death of ice sports. 
Open ice rinks to skating clubs immediately and give Scottish athletes their training spaces back. Social distancing is very simple in skating! 
Skaters and their families sacrifice so much for the sport - many early morning sessions mean little social life and often financial sacrifices made, don’t make it all for nothing. 
Ice rinks in Stirling and Ayrshire have been repurposed by Active Stirling and KA leisure for spin bikes - support them financially to reverse this need and help us all out. 
Please Nicola, don’t take away the dreams of athletes and the hobbies of so many people.
