A petition to stop the IBO decision to have a Dual Route external exam / or Internal assessment model.

While we understand the challenging environment that all educators, administrators, students and parents are facing globally, we think a dual route proposal is not fair to any student. And  we are talking about any student globally and not just in a specific country or school.

Most students, globally, are applying to colleges universally and some will have acceptances even before taking the external exams... Some of these acceptances will be conditional and others would be confirmed subject to satisfactory completion of education programs. 

Now, we cannot understand how a student acheiving grades through the grading / exam stream can be valued equally in comparison with a student acheiving grades through the internal assessment stream?  Do you think their would be fairness in this? would a student that sat for the exam be valued in a better value than the internal assessment ? or vice versa? thus this would have been more fair if students globally had a single grading system ( internal assessment for all students globally OR sitting for the exam for all students globally).

Let's assume that the decision was to take the external exam route...what would be the condition of a student/s that during the exams, a day of the exam,  or a few days before the exam found out that they had COVID 19 ? would they be unable to take the exam? and would their future be delayed until they take the exam during the next sitting? What if thousands had this ordeal?

We are starting this petition while we know the burden on all your shoulders and possibly the sleepless nights that you are all having to endure while making the best decision. And we thank you for all what you have done and what you are doing to our kids but we thought we should have a say in this and stop this decision.

Asking 17 year old students to be calm and maintain their focus would be a big ask. We are even amazed they were able to focus through writing their internal assessments and extended essays. also throughout writing their college applications!
