Save Bridge 2062 from being infilled
The Issue
National Highways intends to infill beneath Bridge 2062 at Braughing station in Hertfordshire – a rare surviving structural element of the former Buntingford branch line, now largely erased from the landscape.
Together with the station buildings, platforms, goods shed, platelayers' hut and signal box, the bridge forms a coherent group of historic railway assets whose character depends on the open space beneath it.
Infilling would permanently destroy that relationship and fundamentally alter the heritage value of the site. We believe a proportionate repair option exists and has not been properly explored. Please sign to urge National Highways to reconsider.
