The Issue

To the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners:

We, the undersigned residents and taxpayers of Calvert County, strongly oppose the development of data centers in our community. The recent 2-3 vote to strike down the data center moratorium disregards widespread community concerns about environmental impact, infrastructure strain, and the preservation of our rural character.

We demand that no data center projects be approved without direct voter authorization.  If such developments are considered in the future, they must be subject to a countywide referendum, allowing the people of Calvert County to make the final decision.

We further demand that no data center projects be approved without direct Federal, State and finally, an 85% Voter authorization approval if such developments are even considered in the future.

Commercial Data Centers are an unwanted blight in our Ecologically Critical County.

Our water resources, energy grid, and quality of life are too important to be decided without democratic input. We call for immediate legislative action to require voter approval for any data center development in Calvert County.
