Take Action Now to Protect the UK and Ensure Sustainable Immigration Policies
The Issue
The UK is facing an unprecedented immigration crisis. In 2023 alone, the country experienced a staggering 52.9% rise in migration, reaching 746,900 new arrivals—more, on a pro-rata basis, than any other wealthy nation except the U.S. This surge, representing a 110% increase since 2019, has put immense pressure on public services and raised concerns about its impact on our social infrastructure and cultural identity. Immediate, decisive action is essential to secure our borders and build a sustainable future for the UK.
We urge the UK Government to take the following steps:
1. End Asylum Processing on UK Soil
Current practices of processing asylum seekers within the UK are not working. Detention centers are overwhelmed, and illegal entries continue without sufficient documentation or proper checks. We call on the government to:
> Cease processing asylum claims domestically, particularly for those who arrive illegally.
> Revive and implement the Rwanda asylum plan for offshore processing.
> Prioritize entry for individuals with documented skills that contribute to the UK economy.
By taking these steps, we send a clear message: Illegal immigration will not be tolerated, and only those contributing positively to society should be welcomed.
2. Leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)
The ECHR is currently limiting our ability to manage our borders effectively. It allows foreign criminals and illegal immigrants to use human rights laws to avoid deportation. With over 12,000 foreign nationals in UK prisons, it’s time to regain control.
Leaving the ECHR will allow us to:
> Deport foreign offenders promptly and free up prison space.
> Strengthen our immigration laws without external legal interference.
> Ensure decisions impacting the UK are made by the UK.
3. Reform the Human Rights Act
Our current Human Rights Act is outdated and unable to address the modern challenges of illegal immigration. We call for a comprehensive review and reform to:
> Align the Act with the UK’s national interests and safety needs.
> Implement clearer laws that facilitate the removal of individuals who pose risks to public security.
This will prioritize the safety and security of UK citizens while upholding essential human rights.
4. Strengthen Border Security and Stop Illegal Boat Crossings
The persistent arrival of migrants by boat is a stark indicator that our borders need better protection. To prevent these dangerous crossings and safeguard national security, we must:
> Enhance detection and interception at the border.
> Increase patrols and deploy advanced technology to monitor the coastline.
> Collaborate with international partners to dismantle smuggling operations and return those who attempt to enter illegally to safe third countries.
We need robust, immediate action to deter dangerous and unlawful journeys.
