Mandate the Use of new Rubber Cancellations in India

The Issue

Traditional cancellers used in Indian Post Offices are inefficient, destructive and are unable to convey any information. Usually, they either tear the postage stamps as well as the article, or leave a faint mark which leads to illegal reuse of postage stamps.

Stamp torn due to traditional cancel

Further, traditional cancelers require a great amount of force to be applied, which is not feasible. These cancellations are very frustrating for philatelists and also cause losses for India Post.

New rubber cancelers would solve these problems. They require very little force to be applied, and they are ALREADY used for special cancellations by some post offices with philatelic services. If rubber cancellations can be bought for temporary cancellations, using them for regular mail should not be a problem.

They always leave a clear mark, providing the necessary information for both philatelists and India Post. This will also prevent the illegal reuse of stamps.

Such cancellations also help to keep record of registered and speed post. And for ordinary mail, they are the only source of information available in the article.
