The Issue
For over 11 years, I have dedicated myself to supporting two Burmese men whose lives changed forever due to a grave miscarriage of justice in Thailand. Their story of wrongful imprisonment has touched me deeply, compelling me to write a book and tirelessly advocate for their freedom. Now, I ask for your support to finally bring an end to their unjust suffering.
In 2015, these two men, Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo, were wrongfully convicted of the murder of two British tourists on the island of Koh Tao, a case that has been riddled with inconsistencies and international concern. Despite clear evidence of their innocence, including retracted confessions made under duress and DNA evidence that did not match, they have been condemned to spend their lives behind bars.
The real perpetrators remain unidentified, and justice has not been served. Recent reports and investigations highlight the significant flaws in the legal proceedings, and it is clear that this conviction was a grievous mistake. Organizations like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have called for a fair trial, exposing the dire need for judicial reforms in Thailand.
Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo deserve a chance to live their lives free from the bars of unjust imprisonment. It's time for the Thai government to acknowledge this and correct the wrongs of the past. By signing this petition, you are urging the King of Thailand to intervene and grant these innocent men the freedom they have long been denied.
Together, we can make a difference. Stand with us, stand for justice, and help right this wrong by signing this petition. Your voice is vital in this pursuit of justice and will add to the growing call for royal clemency and a reinvestigation into this case.
