The Issue

The Boise School District has recently been embroiled in a series of controversies stemming from the mishandling of significant issues related to former employee Gavin Snow. As a result, lawsuits and settlements have ensued, highlighting a failure of leadership at the highest levels of our district's administration. We, the concerned residents, parents, taxpayers, educators, students, and community members, demand accountability from those in power.

The integrity and safety of our students is a non-negotiable priority. It is evident that the current leadership, including the Board of Trustees, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and senior district leadership, have not upheld these standards. Their inability to manage critical incidents that directly affect the well-being of our children exhibits a pattern of negligent governance.

Recent investigations have shed light on mismanagement and a lack of transparency, further eroding public trust in the Boise School District's leadership. As an informed community, we refuse to allow this negligence to continue unaddressed. The leadership’s lack of effective oversight and swift action during times of crisis undermines the confidence parents place in our education system. School should be a sanctuary for learning and growth, not a battlefield of uncertainty and distrust. Equally damaging is the indifference and invalidation experienced by victims' families.

The impact does not stop at school safety, as it is now affecting the resources available. The funds that should have been used for enhancing educational programs, services, and student facilities are instead being siphoned as restitution for systemic failures. This is unacceptable and highlights the urgent need for leadership change.

Our demands are clear:

-The immediate resignation of the Boise School District’s Board of Trustees, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and senior district leadership. In their place, we advocate for leaders who prioritize student safety, transparency, and community involvement, ensuring a brighter, safer future for us all.

-An independent public review of decisions and actions related to the Gavin Snow matter, as well as an independent public review of the whole district including Valley View, Cynthia Mann, Fairmont, and Timberline. This review should include the district's official policies and protocols of dealing with complaints and accusations, as well as the required trainings for staff.

-Updated district policies regarding reports, investigations, and resignations, in order to reflect the updated Child Protection Act 16-1605.

We urge all stakeholders to join us in holding our district accountable. By signing this petition, you are voicing a collective call for change, demanding that our schools be led by individuals who are genuinely committed to the success and safety of our students. Let us stand together to ensure that the values we hold dear are reflected in our educational leadership. Please sign this petition and make your voice heard.
